A panel was organized by MAKÜ Faculty of Health Sciences within the scope of October 1st Elderly Day.
The program started with the opening speech of the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Gül MUTLU GÜLMEMİŞ. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Gül MUTLU GÜLMEMİŞ emphasized the important roles of healthcare workers in an aging Turkey and highlighted the importance of societal contributions in this field, considering the elderly population of Burdur. She stated that the Faculty of Health Sciences at MAKÜ has a history and an experienced staff with its current academic structure, and expressed that they have been further strengthened with the Gerontology Department, which admitted students for the first time this year.
Following the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç SÜTLÜ from the Gerontology Department presented on “Aging from a Gerontological Perspective”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melda SOYSAL TOMRUK from the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation on “Physical Activity and Balance Rehabilitation in the Elderly”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sercan ÖZBEK YAZICI from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics on “Nutrition in the Elderly”, Dr. Lecturer Gülhan ŞEN from the Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management on “Disaster Gerontology: An Overview”, and Res. Asst. Dr. Kerime ÖĞÜT DÜZEN from the Department of Nursing on “Geriatric Nursing”.
